In mid 1999 he joined a touring bar/lounge act called The Shackshakers. Based out of Minnesota, this band would take Todd out of the Buffalo music scene for a while. The bright spot of their tour was a gig in Clovis, NM for Buddy Holly’s family and friends. The Norman Petty Music Festival was the event of the city and Todd had the privilege of meeting the real Peggy Sue. The Shackshakers style of rockabilly, country, swing and blues proved a huge task. On the other side of the country, Don Karg heard about his talent from a musician in Buffalo and offered Todd a chance to join a band that was forming in Phoenix. Why Rent? Why Not Buy??? It's not the easiest question. There are a lot of good reasons to do both. All instruments, whether you rent or buy, require maintenance. All of our band and orchestral rentals include insurance that covers maintenance, damages, loss and theft.
While you may be tempted to purchase an inexpensive instrument that you may see advertised, these instruments typically require more attention to keep them in playable condition. Minor adjustments that many instruments need cost between 30 and 50 dollars per visit to the repair shop.
That "Why Rent?" question is made easier to answer by the equity building program we offer on our rentals.
Why Not Buy Used? Trying to find quality used instruments online is like trying to navigate a mine field. Yes, it is possible to find great deals online but repairs that are sometimes needed on these instruments may exceed what you paid for the instrument. Overhauling an instrument can cost $200 and up.
Our Rentals Start at $22.99 a month which includes tax and insurance. We stock all of the accessories and books that school band and orchestra programs recommend.
